Where do Polygraph Tests get Done?
Where do Polygraph Tests get Done?

With the testing environment playing a large role in the success of a polygraph test, where the test is conducted is crucial.

In south Africa it is common practice for polygraph examiners to travel to the location of their client’s business to conduct the polygraph tests. In these instances, it is no less important that the testing environment is suitable to give each examinee a fair, uninterrupted polygraph test.

The ensure accurate and reliable polygraph results, the following would need to be adhered to;

-          Quiet controlled environment

The testing location should be free from noise, distractions and interruptions.

The room should be well lit and at a comfortable temperature.

-          Privacy

Only the polygraph examiner and the examinee should be present in the testing room.

Interpreters or neutral observers may be present in the testing room; interpreters would be for the benefit of the examinee where there is a language barrier.

Any neutral observers should never interrupt the process or impede the examiner from obtaining reliable data.

-          Comfortable environment

The examination room would need to be furnished with a table and a minimum of two chairs without wheels, similar to what one would expect in a meeting room.

A private office or boardroom would be suitable for this process.

Private polygraph offices, law enforcement offices and legal offices often have dedicated polygraph rooms which are set up specifically allowing for the above conditions to run accurate polygraph tests.

Though polygraph tests can be completed in any safe quiet environment, it is essential for the process to run uninterrupted.
